The Divine Aeon (Christ)
As we discussed with the Autogenes, Christ is often seen as the "Self-Generated" Son of the Monad and Barbelo.
The Mission: Christ is the only being who can pass through the Seven Heavens of the Archons without being detected or stopped.
The "Spy" Analogy: Imagine Earth is a high-security prison. Christ is the elite agent from the outside world who sneaks in, disguised as a prisoner, to hand out the blueprints of the building so the inmates can escape.
The "Descent" and the Baptism
Many Gnostics (like the Valentinians) believed that the spirit of Christ descended upon the human Jesus at the moment of his baptism.
Before the baptism, Jesus was just a very holy man.
At the baptism, the Aeon Christ entered him.
This is why, in some Gnostic stories, Jesus can perform miracles or speak about "The Father" (the Monad) whom no one else has ever seen.
Christ vs. The Demiurge
In the Gnostic view, the Demiurge (the lower creator) actually wanted to kill Jesus because Jesus was teaching people that the Demiurge wasn't the highest God.
The Demiurge thought he was winning by having Jesus crucified.
However, Gnostics believed the Archons were tricked. They "killed" the physical body of Jesus, but they couldn't touch the Divine Christ, who simply stepped out of the body and laughed at them.
Christ as the "Teacher of Gnosis"
In mainstream Christianity, the Cross is the most important part (salvation through sacrifice). In Gnosticism, the Teaching is the most important part (salvation through knowledge).
Christ didn't come to change God's mind about us; he came to change our minds about ourselves.
He came to tell us: "You aren't a servant of the Demiurge. You are a Spark of the Monad. Wake up!"

Problem
Humans are "Sinners" who broke rules.
Humans are "Prisoners" who forgot their home.
Solution
Christ dies to pay a debt.
Christ teaches to give us the "passcode" (Gnosis).
Relationship
He is our Lord and Master.
He is our "Older Brother" and Guide.
The Body
He was fully human and fully God.
He was a Spirit "wearing" a human body like a costume (Docetism).
The "Inner Christ"
The most radical Gnostic idea is that you can become a Christ. In the Gospel of Philip, it says: "You saw the spirit, you became spirit. You saw Christ, you became Christ." To a Gnostic, "Christ" is a state of being. Once you fully realize your connection to the Monad and the Luminaries, you aren't just a follower of Christ—you have the "Christ-consciousness" within you. You are no longer under the thumb of the Archons.
